A meeting of the Berlin Board of Education was held in the Berlin High School library beginning at 6:45 p.m. Present for the meeting were, Nicole Plourde, Martha Laflamme, Brian Leclerc Corinne Cascadden, Marion Huntley, Beverly Dupont, Dan Record, Amy Huter, MaryAnn Letarte, Gabby Letarte, Cheryl Pinette, Georgia Caron, Dick Lafleur, and members of the press.
MINUTES On a motion by Nicole Plourde, seconded by Brian Leclerc, the Board voted to approve the minutes of the September 23, 2009 meeting public and non public sessions. The motion passed unanimously.
WARRANTS On a motion by Nicole Plourde, seconded by Brian Leclerc, the Board voted to approve the warrants dated October 5, October 11, and October 12, 2009 for the amounts of $14,923.71 $2,176.18, and $409,624.00 respectively. Discussion ensued regarding a vision consultant charge, and plumbing parts. On a roll call vote, all members voted in the affirmative.
FINANCIAL REPORT The Board reviewed the Financial Report. The administration informed the Board of their intent to advertise for an IT person for the district. The Board expressed their pleasure with being able to do so.
COMMENTS Dick Lafleur extended his thanks for the invitation to attend the Dummer, Milan, and Berlin Joint Meeting and appreciates what everyone is trying to do. He encouraged everyone to continue the discussion.
CONFERENCE The Board was given information on the National Conference on Differentiated Instruction that was attended by several staff members.
SUBSTITUTE COMP On a motion by Nicole Plourde, seconded by Brian Leclerc, the Board voted to approve the changes in substitute compensation that was included in their packet. Discussion ensued. The motion passed unanimously.
FIRST READINGS On a motion by Nicole Plourde, seconded by Brian Leclerc, the Board approved the First Reading of Policies GCG –Substitute Policy – IJOA and IJOA-R – Field Trips, and KF and KF-R, Use of School Buildings. The Home Education Policy IGBA-F was deferred until a full Board is present. The motion passed unanimously.
SUPER REPORT The Superintendent gave the Board information on the 21/21 Initiatives program, her series of professional development, and her desire to be included in a city council work session to discuss regionalization. She will inform the Board the date of this meeting once it has been established.

NON PUBLIC On a motion by Nicole Plourde, seconded by Brian Leclerc, the Board voted to go into nonpublic session at 7:20 p.m. in accordance with RSA 91-A3II (a), (b), (c). On a roll call vote, all members voted in the affirmative.
On a motion by Nicole Plourde, seconded by Brian Leclerc, the Board voted to come out of nonpublic session at 8:05 p.m. The motion passed unanimously. No additional votes were taken in nonpublic session.
